Electromechanical Design Engineer
Telford, UK
£50,000 – £55,000, plus bonus and excellent benefits

Our client is looking to appoint an Electromechanical Design Engineer to join their highly skilled and dynamic Development Team based in Telford.

This position will play a key role in supporting the design and development of innovative system solutions that will contribute to the ongoing growth of the business. The Telford Development Team forms part of a global R&D organisation, offering the opportunity to work on projects from initial concept through to full product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop electro-mechanical designs using 3D CAD modelling tools
  • Support system design activities from concept through to production (“cradle to grave”)
  • Contribute to device integration and overall system design
  • Apply Design for Excellence (DfX) methodologies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within a global R&D environment
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant international and British standards
  • Support product validation, manufacturing, and project delivery

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience using 3D solid modelling CAD software (ideally Creo 7.0 or later)
  • Strong understanding of electro-mechanical design principles
  • Knowledge of general manufacturing processes

Desirable Experience

  • Design for Excellence (DfX) methodologies
  • Device integration and system design
  • Sheet metal design
  • Plastic component design
  • Design of enclosed electrical busbar systems
  • Knowledge of current carrying capacity
  • Thermal dissipation and short circuit rating considerations
  • Knowledge of relevant standards (e.g. IEC 61439, IEC 62208 and British equivalents)
  • Project management experience
