Our client is a well-established and growing organisation that supplies products to manufacturing companies across the UK. They are now seeking an experienced Operations Manager to take responsibility for their Warehouse and Distribution functions based at their site in the Walsall Area. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and hands-on operations professional looking to play a key role in the continued growth and success of a dynamic business.

Operations Manager Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting directly to the Board, responsible for the effective management of Warehouse, Processing and Logistics operations.
  • Leading and developing a team to ensure smooth daily operations.
    Overseeing all inbound and outbound logistics, including goods received from suppliers, storage, stock control and timely customer deliveries via sub-contract transport.
  • Supporting the Sales teams to achieve company sales and profit objectives.
    Managing the Processing function, including finishing operations.
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives across warehousing, storage, order picking and transport activities.
  • Overseeing the maintenance of buildings, lift trucks and processing equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance.
  • Producing and analysing statistical and management information to support cost control and operational efficiency.
  • Taking overall responsibility for Health & Safety across the operational site.

Operations Manager Key Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a fast-paced warehouse, manufacturing or logistics environment.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both internally and externally, including interaction with customers and suppliers when required.
  • Highly organised and capable of forward planning across all operational areas.
  • PC literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (or equivalent software).
  • Familiarity with quality systems and procedures would be advantageous.
  • Either an experienced Operations Manager or a capable Supervisor ready to step up into a management role.
  • Ambitious and looking to build a long-term career within a progressive business.

Working Hours: Monday – Friday – daytime hours (39) with early finish on Fridays
